Graduated from a Master’s program in Gender Studies, Iting Chen is now a Ph.D. candidate in the Cultural Studies Department at Lingnan University. Her research interests include gender and sexuality, sex work, the Cold War, cross-strait relations between mainland China and Taiwan, and modernity in East Asia.
She used to work in Taiwan Women’s Film Association before she became a journalist and editor in the independent media “COOLLOUD” (苦勞網) website.
Out of curiosity, she began to visit lesbian bars, night clubs, piano bars, and teahouses since 2008. Today, she still stays in teahouses in Taiwan to continue her current research. Iting is now the editor of column “Against Family-Marriage Continuum” and one of the authors of the later published book with the same title.
